Tribal Education: In collaboration with the International Development Association (IDA) and the Government of the Netherlands, the State of Gujarat has been given DPEP since 1995-96. Has been selected for the scheme.
In the first phase, implementation has started by selecting Banaskantha, Panchmahal and Dang districts which are very low in women literacy. Public participation, decentralization of punishment, rich guidance and control, and continuous evaluation are the hallmarks of this scheme.
: D. P. E. P. Cells have been set up at Gandhinagar and at the district level. Among them we will learn about Tribal Cell and Tribal Education. The Scheduled Tribes population of the State is 61, 62, 775, 11.12% of the total population from the State is ST population. The literacy rate of the state is 61.8%. Out of which the total percentage of tribal literacy is 29.7%. The literacy of tribal women is only 10.6% and that of men is 30.8%.
Objectives of Tribal Education (1) Teachers know and understand the problems of educating tribal children. (2) Teachers, principals cultivate understanding about tribal education. (2) The teacher understands the beliefs about the tribal child and the skills in them. (4) Activities to be done with regard to tribal education. Teachbooks based on dialects.
